Dave Chappelle is an American stand-up comedian, screenwriter, producer and actor. Chappelle became more widely known for his fabulous sketch comedy series, “Chappelle’s Show.” In 2006, Dave was called by Esquire magazine “the comic genius of America.” The show parodied many aspects of American culture, including racial stereotypes, politics and pop culture. Due to the show’s popularity, Comedy Central reportedly offered Chappelle a $55 million dollar contract to continue production of the TV show for two more years, while allowing him to do side projects. Chappelle shocked his fans and the entertainment industry by walking away from the contract stating that he was unhappy with the direction the show had taken. Tabloids rudely began to speculate his exit from the show was driven by drug addiction or a mental health issue. Chappelle went back to what he does best, and for that matter-better than anyone, stand up comedy. Don’t miss him.
