Underground sensation Marian McLaughlin is pushing the boundaries of folk music. Along with her musical partner, bassist/composerEthan Foote, McLaughlin’s innovative style is one of musical exploration and experimentation. Her second studio album, “Spirit House” is an adventurous endeavor, which combines experimental folk-rock, chamber music and her lyrical vision. Marian McLaughlin’s superb guitar playing and singing combines with Ethan Foote’s arrangements to add a new dimension to modern folk music. She is an active figure on the DC and Baltimore music scene. In 2014, McLaughlin collaborated with filmmaker Zambia to create a video for her song “Before You Leave” which was featured on NPR’s All Songs Considered. The 9th Ward provides an ideal intimate setting for this artist’s original and inventive style.
