Emo Philips is an American comedian from Chicago. He is known for a wandering falsetto tone of voice and a confused, childlike delivery of his material in a manner invoking the wisdom of a child or an idiot savant. His album E=mo2, recorded live at Caroline’s Comedy Club in New York City, won the 1985 New Music Award for best comedy album. He is known for outrageous quotes delivered with that bizarre falsetto voice such as “Some mornings it just doesn’t seem worth it to gnaw through the leather straps” or “When I was a kid I used to pray every night for a new bicycle. Then I realized that the Lord doesn’t work that way so I stole one and asked Him to forgive me.” or “I always wanted a beautiful loving wife and she always wanted to be a citizen.”
