Family Promise of WNY is one of two shelters in Erie County that keeps families together through the trauma of homelessness. They are holding an event ‘Choctoberfest’ on Saturday, October 20th at Resurgence Brewery 6pm-9pm and is their most critical fundraising event of the year.
Each ticket buys unlimited chocolate, snacks, a free drink, entrance into raffles, and good company! Furthermore, the ticket sales directly support their shelter and helps them keep their doors open to help more families.
This year, they’ve served more than 14 families and 70% of individuals going into their shelter are children. Family homelessness continues to increase in Erie County, and Family Promise WNY continues to provide that specialized care to nearly eliminate recidivism. It may seem like they have a small number of people, but this enables them to serve with compassion and offer individualized care that other shelters cannot due to their size. This makes it possible for their guests to graduate from their program and remain housed.
