Gauche sign to Merge Records, announce spring tour dates and set the record straight on “Conspiracy Theories”
From the desk of Gauche: “We’re really excited to be working with Merge. It is such an esteemed label, but still totally independent, and almost in our backyard. It feels really good to have the support and the freedom from Merge to make videos and record more music, which is what we love to do.” Yes, please!
The trio of Mary Jane Regalado, Daniele Yandel, and Jason P Barnett form the core of Gauche, who record and perform with a rotating cast of friends and collaborators such as Pearie Sol, Adrienne CN Berry, Don Godwin, Shawn Durham, Jhon Grewell, and Laurie Spector, to name a few. Their debut cassette Get Away with Gauchewas released on Sister Polygon Records in 2015 and subsequently reissued on vinyl by Danger Records in 2017. Their music redefines the position of women, appearing as an ode to beauty and feminine energy. A manifesto in the form of mythology; each song a new myth, a new possibility for existence within alienating and consumerist society, like a new religion, Goddess Worship.
Next week, Gauche will be performing at Secret Project Robot in Brooklyn as part of The Baffler’s new series of concerts and readings dubbed The Bad Society. The group will then tour the northeast in the springtime, and tickets for those shows will go on sale this Friday at 10am ET. Get your dancing shoes out of the closet and get away with Gauche!
