About 50 St. Ann’s parishioners—wearing green t-shirts with the legend “We are St. Ann’s Church” and an image of the church—showed up at the Common Council public hearing Tuesday on a recommendation for landmark status for the recently shut-down complex. Many of them spoke, all in favor of the recommendation.

On Tuesday evening, former deputy district attorney Mark Sacha traveled to Albany to appear before Governor Andrew Cuomo’s Moreland Commission to Investigate Public Corruption. In 2009, Sacha was fired by his boss, Erie County District Attorney Frank A. Sedita III, after publicly accusing Sedita of eighty-sixing Scaha’s investigation into alleged election law fraud by Democratic political operative Steve Pigeon, a long-time political ally of Sedita and his late father.

After years at loggerheads, principals of the Peace Bridge Public Bridge Authority and the Niagara Gateway Columbus Park Association community organization will have a dialogue of sorts at the bi-national Conference on the Environment at the Adams Mark Hotel, October 3-5. Featured speakers at a panel discussion on the afternoon of October 4 will include Ron Rienas, Peace Bridge general manager, and Kathy Mecca, president of the community organization.
