The guitar competition will take place on June 8-11. The semifinals on June 8th and 9th will be broadcast live on Classical 94.5 WNED and the finals will take place on Saturday with accompaniment by a full symphony orchestra. Jo Ann Falletta started this competition in 2004 to help identify and encourage talented young classical guitarists and to assist them on their musical journeys. The contest takes place every two years. The winner of the contest will receive $10,000 USD, a return engagement with the Buffalo Philharmonic, a concert on the prestigious “Incontri Musicali” series in Milan, Italy and a recording contract for one CD. The Second prize winner receives $3500 and Third prize winner receives $1500. The audience also has a chance to select its favorite with the Audience Choice Award. The Semi-finalists are from Russia, Romania, France, Hungary, Greece, Finland and The United States. Congratulations and the best of luck to all the competitors.
