Son of Jazz guitar legend Bucky Pizzarelli, John Pizzarelli has established himself as one of the prime interpreters of the Great American Songbook, bringing to his work the cool jazz flavor of his brilliant guitar playing and singing. He has performed with such jazz icons as Benny Goodman, Zoot Sims, Clark Terry, Dave Brubeck, Ramsey Lewis, Rosemary Clooney and Kurt Elling. In 1993, he was honored to open for Frank Sinatra’s international tour and then joined in the celebration for Sinatra’s 80^th birthday celebration at Carnegie Hall. His latest recording, “Midnight Mc Cartney” is a follow-up to Sir Mc Cartney’s Grammy winning album “Kisses on the Bottom” which he played guitar on. For Pizzarelli through, his hero and foundation was Nat “King” Cole and the comparison to Cole’s iconic trio is the highest of compliments. His trio is an extension and 21^st century version of what that group was. The Seattle Times called him “a tour de force” and “a rare entertainer of the old school.”
