Kendrick is one of the best young drummers in Jazz. Trumpeter extraordinaire Terrence Blanchard says “Kendrick Scott has become the Art Blakey, Elvin Jones, and Tony Williams of his generation.” His band “Oracle”, currently features a top notch collection of young musicians capable of a wide range of musical expression: saxophonist John Ellis, keyboardist Taylo Eigsti (most recently performing with Gretchen Parlato at UB), guitarist Mike Moreno and bassist Joe Sanders. The band is bringing innovation and a singular sound to Modern Jazz. Scott developed his jazz chops as a sideman touring with Herbie Hancock, Charles Lloyd, The Crusaders, Kurt Elling and Terrence Blanchard. His new album on Blue Note Records is called “We are the Drum” and is receiving rave reviews. Head down to the UB Center of the Arts and see one of the new lions of the drums.
