Local wood carvers’ exhibit opening at the Castellani Art Museum of Niagara University
Interested in the art of wood carving? Head to the Castellani Art Museum on Monday April 29thbetween 4:30-6:30 to celebrate the opening of a new traditional art exhibit: Born from Wood: The Niagara Frontier Wood Carvers. Curated by Niagara University students, the exhibit features the wood carvings and wood burnings of thirteen members of the Niagara Frontier Wood Carvers club, currently based out of the Herschell Carrousel Factory Museum in North Tonawanda. Born from Woodprovides an introduction into the tools, techniques, meanings, and materials found in wood carving and wood burning: from caricatures and relief carvings to figurative sculptures and ‘unburned’ artworks.
