Marty Stuart is an American country music singer-songwriter known for his eclectic merging of rockabilly, honky tonk and traditional country music. Fourteen year old Marty Stuart appeared on the television show Hee Haw performing with country legend Lester Flatt. Marty stayed with Lester until Flatt broke up the band in 1978 due to his failing health. In 1985, Stuart accompanied Johnny Cash to Memphis and played on the “Class of 1955” album that also featured Carl Perkins, Roy Orbison and Jerry Lee Lewis. Marty hosts “The Marty Stuart Show” which features music by Marty and his band the Fabulous Superlatives, as well as his wife, Grand Ol’ Opry star Connie Smith, banjo-picker Leroy Troy and guests. The show is sponsored by Mississippi Tourism. Grand Ol’ Opry announcer, Eddie Stubbs, serves as the show’s MC.
