Pink Martini is a musical group that was formed in 1994 by pianist Thomas Launderale in Portland, Oregon. The band draws its inspiration from music all over the world––crossing genres of classical, jazz, world music and timeless pop. Their first single Sympatheque became an overnight sensation in France and was nominated for Song of the Year at France’s Victoires de la Musique Awards. Pink Martini boasts two talented female singers and an eclectic ‘little orchestra’ to back them up. Their music has been featured on movies and television shows such as The Sopranos, West Wing, Sherlock, In the Cut, Nurse Betty, Mr. and Mrs. Smith and Tortilla Soup, just to name a few. The Washington Post describes Pink Martini as a “rich, hugely approachable and utterly cosmopolitan ensemble.” Pink Martini has performed in jazz festivals and some of the most prestigious concert halls in the world. A unique musical group to say the least!
