New Orleans native Troy Andrews, aka Trombone Shorty, is one of the young lions of jazz whose music, typical of N.O, combines funk, blues, soul, and traditional New Orleans jazz and bop.
Playing since the age of 4, the multi-instrumentalist played with many big name stars, so it’s no surprise his debut album Backatown on Verve Records hit the Billboard jazz chart at number one and stayed there for weeks. Trombone Shorty, who is trombonist/trumpeter/singer, and his band Orleans Avenue deliver high-energy sold out shows worldwide. His next album featured guest appearances from Jeff Beck, Lenny Kravitz, Kid Rock, Warren Haynes and the Neville Brothers.
