“Collins has a tough row to hoe. As I wrote in November, Collins’ tenure in government was packed with mini-scandals. He referred to the Jewish Assembly Speaker as the “anti-Christ”, and the time when Collins jokingly demanded a “lap dance” in
order to save a seat at the State of the State address for a
well-connected female executive at a local construction company. It
ignores the fact that, to some people, informing them days before Christmas that they’d be losing their state-funded daycare services and that they’d have to quit their jobs to watch their kids, is quite scandalous indeed.”
The items above were not scandals.
Why such a slant?

In what way was Collins’ “anti-Christ” crack not a scandal? It took up a week’s worth of news time, and he had to apologize. At what point was his “lap dance” crack not a scandal? It also got a ton of coverage and embarrassed him, and made him look petty and gross. The childcare issue was one of many issues that Collins not only substantively mismanaged, but also poorly stage-managed. He had to backtrack, and people were appalled at the callousness of the way in which he went about screwing over the poor and the urban time and time again, often to the delight of his conservative suburban fans.
Because it wasn’t, that’s why. It took up weeks of news because anti-republicans made an issue out of a non-issue. Yourself included.
You know why he prob apologized? To get the people who were making a non-issue into an issue to finally shut up about it. Calling someone the anti-christ is not a reason businesses and families are leaving NYS.
As the lap dance goes that wasn’t a scandal either. What planet are you on? He made a comment and the anti-republican including yourself blew it out of proportion. Making a lap dance comment is not a reason businesses and families are leaving NYS.
There were NO people screwed over with child care. If the income limit was lowered so what? Why should others go without while others are handed free day care?
