Hands Off Education Budgets
by Frank Kolbmann
Everyone is talking about the target on the back of public education budgets. Well, think about it: Isn’t that by governmental design? What other governmental budget are we as civilians allowed to vote on?
In comparison to other budgets, public education budgets are tiny. The educaton budget we supposedly vent our tax frustration on is only a small percentage at that. Most of the budget is state and federally mandated anyhow. While we cut off our nose to spite our face by voting down school budgets, the government spends substantially more elsewhere. And who really gets hurt? Our children and therefore our future.
Wake up, people. Reform is needed everywhere. Go for the big money, not my kid’s education.
