Mitt's on the Money
by Geoff Kelly
In 2008, Buffalo businessman and former ambassador to Malta Anthony Gioia hosted a fundraiser for Republican presidential candidate John McCain at his stately home near Delaware Park. At that soiree and at slighlty less exclusive affair at the Albright-Knox Art Gallery, McCain raked in more than $1 million in donations—not bad for a couple hours of work.
On Friday, June 29, Mitt Romney follows McCain’s footsteps right to Gioia’s door. At 6:15pm at 55 Meadow Road (make a note, protestors), Gioia will host a $10,000-per-head fundraiser for this year’s GOP presidential candidate. This event follows a commuter-class ($2,500 per person) cocktail reception at 5:30pm at the Buffalo and Erie County Historical Society.
Those willing to part with $5,000 each can have their pictures taken with Romney at 5pm. Perhaps with the Japanese Gardens in the background.
