Bienvenue and Welcome, Canadians!

A group of about 60 visitors from Hamilton, Ontario, including Martinus Geleynse, editor and publisher of Urbanicity; former Hamilton mayor and current CEO of the Hamilton Community Foundation Terry Cooke, as well as assorted planning officials, civic activitsts and architects will be visiting Buffalo this Saturday to take a tour of the city. Stops at landmarks old and new will be on the agenda—ranging from beautiful East Side churches, to adaptive reuses like Larkinville and the Hotel Lafayette, to standards like Kleinhans Music Hall.

The day-long tour will culminate in a free public forum at 3:30pm in the Burchfield Penney Art Center, with a panel on issues facing both cities that will include Buffalo State College professors Ted P. Schmidt, Albie Michaels, Curtis Hanes, as well as Catherine Schweitzer of the Baird Foundation. The event is hosted by Artvoice columnist and director of the the Center for Economic and Policy Studies at Buffalo State, Bruce Fisher.
