Ryan Shupe & The Rubberband comes to Nietszche’s this Wednesday (July 16). Formed in the mid-nineties in Utah, the band’s lineup comprises Ryan Shupe (fiddle,guitar,lead vocals), Roger Archibald (guitar, vocals), Ryan Tilby (bass guitar, vocals), Craig Miner (banjo, bouzouki, mandolin, guitar, vocals), and Bart Olson (drums). Shupe, who started playing violin at age 5, is descended from a long line of fiddle players—he’s the fifth generation to play—and by now he’s certainly perfected his technique. This string-based quintet plays country music with a jazzy edge that might make it alt.country, were it’s sound not so deeply rooted in tradition. The show starts at 8pm
