NOVEMBER 28TH, 2018
Danny Ramirez will be presented with the third annual Stonestreet Granite Award, to be held on November 28th at TAJ in Chelsea. Previous recipients of the award include Miles Teller and Rachel Brosnahan.
The Granite is awarded to an actor, director, producer, screenwriter, or hyphenate who has emerged from Stonestreet Studios’ independent film studio that creates and develops content while training. Many emerge as colleagues and continue to create provocative, meaningful, and relevant film and television projects within and without of Stonestreet’s walls.
“Working with a Danny as a director was a joy – he is so responsive to collaboration and direction while always knowing how to stay light even when things are dark. This duality mirrors his ability to work hard and yet be playful. His big heart and a non-judgemental side convinced me he’d be great in DOT – I look forward to working with him again,” says director/producer Alyssa Rallo Bennett.
Ramirez worked, trained and made many professional relationships within the walls of Stonestreet Studios before moving on to a role in the 2018 Sundance hit Assassination Nation, which then went to the BFI Festival and Toronto International Film Festival before being released theatrically. In the past year, Ramirez has also been seen in recurring roles on Fox’s The Gifted and Netflix’s On My Block . 2019 will mark the release of feature credits such as Lost Transmissions alongside Simon Pegg and Juno Temple, Silo with Jim Parrack, and The Giant which reunites him to Assassination Nation co-star Odessa Young.
He is currently in production fo Top Gun: Maverick where he will play a pilot alongside Tom Cruise, Glen Powell, and inaugural Granite recipient, Miles Teller. Following that, Ramirez is slated to star alongside Vanessa Murano ( Switched at Birth) in Stonestreet Studio’s anthology series DOT which focuses on women’s rights in each of the 50 states.
“The Granites are a way for us to stay connected to our community. We are not a school in a formal way, we’re a film studio who work to bring the best young talent in. Our goal is to work with those actors on set and train them to be the best colleagues that they can become. With the award, we like to annual celebrate a member of that community and give them the chance to give back to new up and coming talent,” – Says Gary O. Bennett
Stonestreet Studios was founded in 1991 in New York City by creative team Alyssa Rallo Bennett and Gary O.
