Ella Langley Breaks Mariah Carey's All-Time Hot 100 Record With 'Choosin' Texas'
Ella Langley is the new record holder for the longest-running number one song in the history of the Billboard Hot 100.
Her country-pop smash Choosin' Texas spent its 23rd week atop the chart Tuesday, surpassing Mariah Carey's All I Want for Christmas Is You, which had accumulated 22 weeks at number one since the streaming era began in 2019.
No song by any solo artist or group, in any genre, has ever spent more weeks at the top of the Hot 100 in the chart's 67-year history.
Langley, 27, celebrated poolside on Instagram. "I'm genuinely trying to find the words to help explain what's going on in my brain today," she said. "Thank you so much. Thank you for loving this song. For listening to it. I don't even know what to say at this point. I'm running out of hyperboles to describe how I feel." Her dog, excited in the background, provided the appropriate punctuation.
Choosin' Texas debuted in November 2025, reached the top 10 in January and hit number one in February.
It was co-written by Langley with Miranda Lambert, who is also executive producing her next album, Joybeth Taylor and Luke Dick.
It won Single of the Year at the ACM Awards and Best Country Song at the AMAs. It has now spent 41 weeks at number one on the Hot Country Songs chart as well. Carey's record could return in December when All I Want for Christmas Is You inevitably reclaims the number one spot for the holidays, but for now, the record belongs to a 27-year-old from Hope Hull, Alabama.
