Editor's Pick: Best Sound System - Town Ballroom

This is a tough one. Having a good sound system at a music venue isn’t everything; it’s only half the battle. You have to have a good sound guy behind the boards as well, so when I asked some of Buffalo’s DJs and promoters which system they like to use, the most the response was mixed. Some staple venues like DBGBs, Marcella, and Broadway Joe’s came up in the discussion, as well as newcomers like Chippewa’s Big Bad Wolf, and the Statler Tower’s Rendezvous. It was promising to hear that these new clubs invested the cash in decent sound but there was still no clear consensus other than that one of the city’s biggest venues, the Town Ballroom, keeps it pretty consistent.

Editor's Pick: Best Cocktail I've Had This Year...

A Widow’s Kiss, as prepared by Greg Courtney at Rue Franklin’s diminutive marble bar. It’s based on Calvados, Chartreuse, bitters, what else? Maybe Benedictine. A good end to an early evening.
