The Broadway Market's new era begins Saturday - and it needs your help

A Change in the Market
Halloween is the last day for the old regime at the Broadway Market: The current board and executive director are stepping down in a fit of pique. Waiting in the wings is a host of community activists eager to set a new course for the Market and the surrounding neighborhood. The city has yet to name an interim manager, but the intention is that a task force assembled by Common Council President Dave Franczyk of the Fillmore District will determine a long-term plan for the Market in the coming months.
Meantime, Mayor Byron Brown will mark the beginning of the new Broadway Market on Saturday, around noon, with a press conference and reception. But that morning, beginning at 9am, volunteers are needed for a cleanup. You don’t need to call ahead. Just show up.
