Let's Break Free From Circles
by Sara Ries
Let’s Break Free From Circles
Circles of people crowded at tables
I picked up my chair and spun
outside of the wooden suns
I picked up my chair and spun
into the empty
Spaces between seats, spaces
Between you and me
Celebrating the color clear
They reached
in their pockets and purses,
Raised cell phones like crosses
‘We’re calling the doctor’ they shouted
‘You need medication, you’re different’
I said no you see I’m just spinning,
And the order you obey is play-dough
With enough hands you can re-shape it
Enough hands and you can sculpt wings
