Peter Thiel Put $418 Million Into Eight Stocks And Seven Of Them Are Energy Companies

|

Peter Thiel's hedge fund Thiel Macro disappeared from SEC filings for two quarters, reporting zero holdings at the end of Q4 2025 and Q1 2026, and then resurfaced in mid-August with a $418.7 million portfolio concentrated almost entirely on a single thesis: the AI boom is constrained by electricity, not by chips or software.

Seven of the eight positions are power plays. Vista Energy, the largest independent operator in Argentina's Vaca Muerta shale, at $75.9 million.

Vistra, which has a 20-year nuclear power agreement with AWS, at $59.1 million. American Electric Power at $42.2 million. DTE Energy at $40.3 million.

FirstEnergy at $39.9 million. CMS Energy at $39.6 million. Small modular reactor company X-Energy at $3.7 million. Every one of them feeds the same bet: hyperscalers need more electricity than the grid can currently supply, and the companies that provide that electricity have contracted demand rather than speculative capacity.

The eighth position, and the largest at $118 million, 28 percent of the fund, is Amazon.

The company that creates the AI electricity demand and is simultaneously spending $220 billion this year to meet it.

Druckenmiller and Tepper made similar moves in Q2. Three legendary investors. Same thesis. Not chips. Power.
