Tacko Fall Signs With The Philadelphia 76ers
Tacko Fall is back. The Philadelphia 76ers signed the 7-foot-6 Senegalese center to an Exhibit 10 training camp contract Tuesday, bringing back one of basketball's most beloved figures for another shot at an NBA roster spot four years after playing his last regular-season game with the Cleveland Cavaliers.
Fall, 30, has spent the intervening years playing in China, most recently with the Ningbo Rockets of the CBA where he averaged 10.8 points, 6.0 rebounds and 2.2 blocks in 17.2 minutes per game.
He is not a finished offensive player. He is 7 feet 6 inches tall, blocks shots by existing near the basket and has retained the fan following that made him a cult figure in Boston.
The reunion angle: Fall was teammates with new Sixers star Jaylen Brown on the Celtics from 2019 to 2021.
Brown responded to the signing on X with the GOAT emoji. The two also made the pilgrimage to Mecca together in 2024, both are Muslim.
Philadelphia has one open two-way contract spot, and Fall will compete for it in camp alongside fellow Exhibit 10 signees Jameer Nelson Jr., son of Sixers EVP of basketball operations Jameer Nelson Sr., and forward Saint Thomas.
Kendrick Perkins suggested on ESPN that the Sixers signed Fall specifically to guard Victor Wembanyama in a potential Finals matchup. That may be giving the move too much credit, or exactly the right amount.
