Two Men Charged In Kansas City Chiefs Parade Shooting

Lyndell Mays, of Raytown, and Dominic M. Miller, of Kansas City, were charged today for the shooting that occurred during the Kansas City Chiefs Super Bowl parade last week. The shooting left one fan dead, and wounded 20 others, including a dozen children. The fan tragically killed in the gunfire was a local radio host named Lisa Lopez-Galvan, who was also a mother of two.

It was reportedly the gunfire of Dominic M. Miller that struck and killed Lisa Lopez-Galvan, though both defendants have been charged with second degree murder. Police did detain three individuals at the scene of the crime, but later determined that one of the individuals detained had nothing to do with the crime, and subsequently released that individual from custody. In addition to being charged with second degree murder, Miller and Mays are also being charged with unlawful use of a weapon and two counts of armed criminal action.

Both defendants have reportedly been hospitalized since the events of the shooting, suffering wounds themselves from the shooting.

It is reported that the shooting started after a verbal altercation between Miller and Mays began, eventually escalating into a gunfight. Mays was allegedly the first to pull out his firearm at the parade, which immediately prompted Mays to draw his weapon as well.

Each of the men is being held on a $1 Million bond. Governor Laura Kelly has ordered for flags to be flown at half staff in honor of Lisa Lopez-Galvan. See Kelly’s statement about this post on X below…
