Nancy Mace Calls For Lindsay Clancy's Public Execution
South Carolina Republican Congresswoman Nancy Mace called for the public execution of Lindsay Clancy during a TMZ DC interview Monday, weeks after a mistrial was declared in Clancy's murder case following five days of deliberation and a single holdout juror.
"She killed her kids," Mace told TMZ. "She deserves nothing less." She called for the death penalty, suggesting a firing squad or electric chair, and said it "should be public" and serve as "a warning to women everywhere, you don't kill your kids." She also posted on X: "I said what I said. Lindsay Clancy deserves the death penalty. Make it public. And make it a warning to others — killing your kids is MURDER."
There is one rather large obstacle: Massachusetts eliminated the death penalty in 1984. The maximum sentence Clancy could face is life in prison without parole. Mace is a lame-duck congresswoman whose term ends in January.
Clancy, a former labor and delivery nurse, was charged with the January 2023 strangulation deaths of her three children, Cora, 5, Dawson, 3, and Callan, 8 months, in Duxbury, Massachusetts. She admitted killing them. Her defense argued she was not criminally responsible due to postpartum psychosis.
Eleven of twelve jurors voted for not guilty by reason of insanity. Her attorneys are also pursuing a Rule 25 motion asking the judge to enter an acquittal. That hearing is September 29.
