Rent
by Anthony Chase
Jonathan Larson’s Rent has been around for a good long time and has made its way through Shea’s, even with members of the original company. Its signature tune, “Seasons of Love,” was a mainstay of Hakeoke at club “Q” on Allen. Now MusicalFare gives us the first locally produced version of this play about young people living la vie boheme in New York City, and they are promising a minimalist take, directed by Randall Kramer, starring Charmagne Chi, Steve Copps, Joe Donohue, Maria Droz, Paschal Frisina III, Matthew Iwanski, Amy Jakiel, Dudney Joseph, Jr., John Kaczorowski, Kay Kerimian, Renee Landrigan, Ben Puglisi, Marc Sacco, and Jonathan Young. The choreography is by Bobby Cooke, with musical direction by Theresa Quinn. It’s a long run by Buffalo standards, continuing through March 3rd. Call 839-8540.
