Gutenberg! The Musical! Opening Tonight! at Kavinoky Theatre

From Broadway to Buffalo! Get ready for a side-splitting journey through history with Gutenberg! The Musical! This uproarious comedy (which just recently closed on Broadway in January), brings to life the hilarious and fictitiously improbable story of Johann Gutenberg, the inventor of the printing press. Set in a regional American theater (called the Kavinoky), our two intrepid protagonists, Doug and Bud, are on a mission to showcase their brand-new musical about Gutenberg’s life. Armed with enthusiasm, a handful of hats, and boundless optimism, they launch into a whirlwind performance that takes the audience on a wild and perfectly ridiculous ride.

Gutenberg! The Musical! stars Ricky Needham (Rock of Ages, The Rocky Horror Show) and Zak Ward, with Joe Isgar at the piano. Direction by former Kavinoky Executive Artistic Director Loraine O’Donnell and music direction by Chuck Basil. Lighting design by Brian Cavanagh, set concept by Dyan Burlingame, sound design by Geoff Tocin, and stage management by Derek Moran. The production, as well as the entire Kavinoky season, is supported by D’Youville University.

Join us after the show tonight, for a special opening night reception with cast and crew!
