The legendary rock band Metallica, behind such hits as Enter Sandman, Nothing Else Matters, and One has announced that they will be playing a residency at the Las Vegas Sphere.

The band will play eight total shows at the Sphere, dubbing it the Life Burns Faster residency. The shows will happen twice a day on Oct. 1 and 3, 15 and 17, 22 and 24, and 29 and 31, giving fans 16 opportunities to catch the legendary rock group.

In a statement posted to the Metallica webpage, drummer Lars Ulrich said about the opportunity to play at the Sphere,

“About 12 seconds into the opening night of Sphere with U2 back in ’23, I thought ‘We have to do this, it’s completely uncharted territory!”

The drummer then continued,

“”This residency gives us another chance to reinvent how we interact with our fans in a live setting. We are beyond excited to share this with the world in six months time, and way f****** psyched to go next level!”

The band previewed what’s to come in an electric video which displays Metallica graphics and logos on the Sphere to the tune of some of their most classic songs. See that video below.

If there’s one thing Metallica loves, it’s touring. The band is still on tour currently for an album that they released back in 2023. They are scheduled to perform in Europe this Summer before their trip the desert in Las Vegas in the Fall.

They recently appeared at a gig in the Hamptons recently to promote their spot on Sirius XM, as well as performing at the funeral of rock legend Ozzy Osbourne last year.

When Will Tickets Be Available For Metallica?

Tickets for the Metallica residency in Las Vegas will start selling at 10 a.m. PT on March 6th.

In a post on the band’s website about the residency and ticket sales, the band writes,

Surprise! The world’s worst-kept secret is now official… we are bringing our No Repeat Weekends to Sphere in Las Vegas this fall!!

Our Sphere weekend residency, Life Burns Faster, will debut on October 1 & 3, with six more shows to follow. As you’ve come to expect, each set of shows will be No Repeat Weekends, meaning if you attend both the Thursday and Saturday shows, you will not hear the same song twice.

Metallica has promised not to repeat a single song in the Thursday and Saturday shows, giving fans extra incentive to purchase tickets to multiple shows.

The band will join Kenny Chesney, U2, The Eagles, The Zac Brown Band, Phish, and other notable groups to headline a residency at the Sphere since its opening in September of 2023.

For Metallica fans, this residency provides an opportunity to see the band like you have never seen them before.

Historic Performances Are The Norm For Metallica

Metallica has been part of some of the largest performances in the history of music since the band was founded in Los Angeles, California back in 1981.

The story of Metallica’s largest performances begins on September 28, 1991, outside Moscow, Russia.

The Soviet Union was crumbling and for some unknown reason, the Russian government decided to allow a free outdoor concert at Tushino Airfield that drew an estimated 1.6 million people.

The Monsters of Rock festival featured Metallica alongside AC/DC, Pantera, and the Black Crowes, and by most accounts, it remains one of the largest rock concerts in history.

The 1995 Monsters of Rock festival, which Metallica also played in, at Parque Anhembi in São Paulo, Brazil drew roughly 250,000 attendees on January 21st of that year.

Their 2003 run saw Metallica headline NFL stadiums across the United States alongside Linkin Park, Limp Bizkit, and Mudvayne, routinely drew crowds of 50,000 to 70,000 per night.
