Carrot Top Is Recovering In A Las Vegas Hospital After A Suicide Attempt Friday Night

Carrot Top, the 61-year-old prop comedian born Scott Thompson who has headlined at the Luxor Hotel and Casino since November 2005 in the longest-running comedy residency in Las Vegas history, was rushed to a local hospital Friday evening following a suicide attempt, TMZ reported. His Friday and Saturday night Luxor shows were both canceled.

His representative Jami Schlicher confirmed the hospitalization in a statement: "Mr. Thompson is recovering in the hospital and is receiving the care and support he needs. His family and those closest to him are deeply grateful for the concern, prayers and respectfully ask for privacy."

MGM Resorts International, which owns the Luxor, said: "Scott is a beloved member of the Luxor and MGM Resorts family, and we are relieved to hear that he is recovering."

Thompson has spoken publicly in recent years about the painful losses of close friends — Bob Saget, who died in January 2022, and Louie Anderson, who died of blood cancer less than two weeks later. "Louie Anderson was like my brother," he told a magazine last year. "I went to the hospital, and I was holding his hand the last day he was there, and it was rough."
