Sam Darnold Injury Update Revealed In Mike MacDonald Postgame Interview
Sam Darnold and the Seattle Seahawks won their 2026 season opener to the New England Patriots at Lumen Field, a Super Bowl LX rematch that went the right for the defending NFC champions, and coach Mike Macdonald had direct things to say about his quarterback's performance afterward.
Darnold left the game after just one series with a hip injury.
"With Sam, we got some great news back," Macdonald said after the win. "Let's just say it's good news right now. Our thoughts and prayers are with Sam; we love him, and the guys really pulled through for him."
Maye, in contrast, threw three interceptions, including the game-losing interception with less than 2 minutes remaining.
Seattle opens Week 2 on the road. Darnold won the Super Bowl last February and was 14-3 in the regular season.
