Jennifer Lawrence Finally Joins Instagram
Jennifer Lawrence joined Instagram on Wednesday, the 36-year-old Oscar winner who has spent years publicly mocking social media, describing herself as only a "voyeur" who watches but never posts, and insisting she could never live the selfie life, finally made her public debut on the platform and the internet immediately lost its collective mind.
Lawrence has been one of Hollywood's most prominent social media holdouts for over a decade. She gave a secret finsta to a journalist years ago as a prank, "I watch. I don't speak" was her summary of her social media philosophy.
She told interviewers she couldn't imagine posting 50 selfies a day and that such a life wasn't worth living.
Whatever changed her mind, it changed it now. Her first post has not been confirmed in detail by my searches, but USA Today reported it Wednesday and the reaction is exactly what you'd expect from the debut of one of the last major Hollywood stars to join the platform.
She has starred in The Hunger Games, won an Oscar for Silver Linings Playbook and has spent years being more famous for avoiding Instagram than most people are for being on it. She is currently filming for upcoming projects. She is now, apparently, also on Instagram.
