'The Mosquito Bowl' First Trailer Drops As Hype Builds
Netflix dropped the first trailer Wednesday for The Mosquito Bowl, Peter Berg's WWII epic about four of America's top college football stars who set their careers aside to enlist in the Marines after Pearl Harbor and played a legendary game on the brink of the invasion of Okinawa that would be the last football game many of them ever played.
The film is based on Buzz Bissinger's New York Times bestselling book The Mosquito Bowl: A Game of Life and Death in World War II, the same Buzz Bissinger who wrote Friday Night Lights, the book Berg previously turned into a beloved film and TV series. They are back together for something considerably darker.
Nicholas Galitzine leads the cast alongside Bill Skarsgård, Ray Nicholson and Tom Francis, with former NFL punter and ESPN personality Pat McAfee in a cameo role. Berg co-wrote the screenplay with Mark L. Smith, who wrote The Revenant.
The film was shot in Queensland, Australia. Brian Grazer of Imagine Entertainment produces alongside Berg's Film 44 banner.
The Mosquito Bowl opens in select AMC theaters October 30, 2026 and premieres globally on Netflix November 25.
