Meg Stalter Painted Herself Head To Toe In Gold And Arrived At The Emmys As A Literal Emmy Statue
Meg Stalter arrived at the 78th Primetime Emmy Awards Monday night at the Peacock Theater in Los Angeles entirely covered in gold paint, her skin, her intricately styled updo, all of it, wearing a gold bra, gold hot pants, gold jewelry, massive gold angel wings and carrying a spherical atom above her head.
She posed on the carpet with Hacks co-creator Paul W. Downs, who stood beside her in a conservative tuxedo, and recreated the iconic Emmy statuette's pose for photographers.
It is, objectively, the best red carpet look of the 2026 awards season.
Stalter is nominated for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Comedy Series for her role as Kayla Schaeffer on Hacks, her first Emmy nomination.
She told the NBC pre-show host the look was "a remake" when asked about the designer, declining to share further details. The Emmy statuette was designed in 1948 by television engineer Louis McManus and modeled after his wife, featuring a winged woman holding an atom. Stalter became the woman.
Last year she wore Levi's jeans and a Hanes T-shirt to the Emmys and told Variety that "people need to bring back jeans on the red carpet." This year she escalated. The escalation was correct.
