Kyren Williams Scores Rams Only Touchdown

Kyren Williams punched in a 4-yard touchdown run to give the Los Angeles Rams their first score of Thursday night's historic Melbourne game, but it was not enough.

The San Francisco 49ers won the NFL's first-ever regular season game played in Australia at the Melbourne Cricket Ground, handing the Rams a loss in front of a sold-out Australian crowd and a global Netflix audience.

Williams, who rushed for 1,252 yards and 10 touchdowns in 2025 and ranked No. 89 on the NFL Top 100 entering this season, had the moment of the night on the Rams' side of the ball, taking the handoff from Matthew Stafford and driving through the line for the score.

It was the kind of run Williams makes look routine. The problem is the 49ers made enough plays around it to take the win.

The game marked the debut of Myles Garrett in Rams colors, his first regular season appearance since being traded from Cleveland in the offseason, but the reigning Defensive Player of the Year acknowledged afterward that he had not played like himself. Williams provided the lone offensive highlight worth celebrating for Los Angeles.

The Rams host the New York Giants in Week 2. Aaron Donald, who came out of retirement this summer, was not activated for Melbourne. The full version of this Rams team has not yet appeared.
