Blake Corum Leads Rams In Rushing During 27-7 Defeat
Blake Corum came out of the Melbourne game as the Rams' leading rusher, posting a team-high 54 yards on the ground in the 49ers' Week 1 victory at the Melbourne Cricket Ground.
The 25-year-old Michigan product outgained starter Kyren Williams in the run game, which was notable given Williams scored the Rams' only touchdown of the night.
The Williams-Corum backfield split has been a fantasy football topic all offseason, analysts projected a near 50-50 divide in carries with Corum handling more of the explosive runs between the twenties while Williams takes goal-line and receiving work.
One game in, Corum's production supports that theory.
Corum rushed for 746 yards and six touchdowns across all 17 games in 2025 while ranking second in the NFL in rushing EPA among qualifying backs.
Sean McVay and offensive coordinator Nate Scheelhaase had both talked up his growth heading into 2026, with McVay calling him a playmaker capable of doing things off-schedule.
The Melbourne game, 49ers win aside, gave early evidence that Corum's role is real, not just a preseason talking point.
