Dell Stock Jumps 9 Percent After Crushing Q2 Earnings
Dell Technologies reported fiscal Q2 2027 earnings Tuesday evening and the stock surged more than 9 percent in extended trading, a reaction that matched the scale of the numbers.
Revenue came in at $46.97 billion, up 57.8 percent year over year and ahead of the $44.50 billion consensus by more than $2 billion. Adjusted EPS of $7.04 crushed the $4.92 estimate by 43 percent and tripled the $2.32 earned in the same quarter a year ago.
The company's Infrastructure Solutions Group, the data center hardware unit that sells the AI servers, posted $31.78 billion in revenue, up 89 percent year over year.
The headline number is the AI order activity: Dell booked $60.9 billion in AI server orders in the quarter alone. Its revenue backlog hit a record $95 billion.
Its full-year guidance was raised to $192 billion in revenue with $25.50 in adjusted EPS, both figures running well above the prior outlook and the analyst consensus. Third-quarter guidance of $49 billion in revenue and $6.50 adjusted EPS also cleared expectations by wide margins.
"If you keep growing EPS 200%+ y/y something good will happen," CEO Michael Dell posted on X after the report. He is now the fifth-richest person in the world according to Bloomberg. The stock has gained 266 percent year to date.
