Ariana Grande Says Goodbye To Public Life With Tears After London Concert

Ariana Grande ended her Eternal Sunshine Tour on Tuesday night at London's O2 Arena, the final of 41 shows that kicked off in Oakland, California in June, and did not leave the stage without crying.

Speaking to a packed crowd that met her tears with thunderous applause, Grande expressed her gratitude and said goodbye for the foreseeable future.

"I just wanted to say thank you so much," she told the crowd. "Thank you for 10 beautiful London shows and for 41 incredible Eternal Sunshine tour shows."

She called the experience "one of the most beautiful and extraordinary experiences of my life" and said she would "cherish this experience always."

A representative for Grande told People magazine in August that after the tour's final show, she would take a "much-deserved break from public-facing work and appearances, which has led to endless, ongoing public scrutiny."

There is no timeline on her return. No new album, no new tour, no future projects have been announced. She pulled out of multiple upcoming public commitments in recent months. She is stepping back, and on Tuesday night in London, in tears and with gratitude, she made it official.

Grande is 33. She has been a global pop star since she was a teenager. The Eternal Sunshine album cycle, which included her Academy Award-nominated performance in Wicked, was one of the most acclaimed stretches of her career.
