Patrick Clancy Gives His First TV Interview After The Lindsay Clancy Mistrial
Patrick Clancy appeared on 60 Minutes Sunday night for his first televised interview since the September 4 mistrial in his ex-wife Lindsay Clancy's murder case, and in doing so gave the most personal account he has ever shared publicly of what the January 2023 deaths of his three children did to him.
He revealed that his youngest son Callan, eight months old when Lindsay strangled him and his siblings Cora, 5, and Dawson, 3, did not die on the night of the killings. Callan was airlifted to Boston Children's Hospital and lived four more days.
"I got to hold him, I got to lay down next to him, and he died in my arms," Patrick said. In those four days he typed tributes to his older children with one hand and, he said, forgave Lindsay before Callan died.
"There was a time where I didn't think I would live to see my 35th birthday," he told 60 Minutes correspondent Ross Douthat. "And I was completely fine with it." He also described a massive, traumatic panic attack during a break in his trial testimony, just before the jury heard his 911 call, which has not been publicly released.
He said the online conspiracy theories suggesting he was somehow involved in the children's deaths were "deeply harmful to the legacy of my children" and a distraction from perinatal mental health, the cause he now dedicates his public voice to. He appeared alongside his new wife, fertility specialist Dr. Rachel Danis.
Lindsay Clancy's retrial has not been scheduled. A Rule 25 motion asking a judge to enter an acquittal is scheduled for September 29.
