Isaiah Likely Shows Out With 2 TD's In Season Opener
Isaiah Likely followed John Harbaugh from Baltimore to New York and justified every dollar of his $40 million deal in one Sunday night.
The 26-year-old tight end caught all eight passes thrown his way for 78 yards and two touchdowns as the Giants beat the Cowboys 28-20 in the John Harbaugh era's first win at MetLife Stadium.
Likely was Jaxson Dart's safety valve all night, the first touchdown came on a 55-yard, six-play drive to end the first half, where Likely got wide open in the end zone corner.
The second came to open the third quarter, a 2-yard finish to a 12-play, 74-yard drive that gave New York a 21-7 lead. When Dallas threatened late, Dart went to Likely on third-and-9 and again on third-and-3 to seal it.
This is the role Harbaugh signed him for. Likely spent four years in Baltimore stacked behind Mark Andrews and never got to lead a passing attack.
Now he does, and the Giants, who entered the game with legitimate questions about receiver depth behind Malik Nabers, suddenly look much more threatening. Nabers caught a 9-yard pass in his return from last year's knee injury. But Likely was the story.
New York also rushed for 165 yards, including 54 from Dart, and converted nine of ten third downs.
