Diddy Release Date From Prison Moved Up Again
Sean "Diddy" Combs' release date from FCI Fort Dix in New Jersey has been updated again, now listed by the Federal Bureau of Prisons as February 5, 2028.
That is the fifth change to his release date since his sentencing, and it represents nearly four months of time shaved from his original June 4, 2028 projected release.
No official explanation has been given for the latest adjustment, but the reductions are attributed to his participation in a drug abuse rehabilitation program at the facility and standard good behavior credits.
The 56-year-old founder of Bad Boy Records has been behind bars since October 2025, when he was sentenced to 50 months, 4 years and 2 months, by Judge Arun Subramanian. At sentencing, 14 months of credit were applied for time served dating back to his September 2024 arrest.
How Diddy Got Here
The arrest that changed everything came on September 16, 2024, when federal agents took Combs into custody at a Manhattan hotel.
The indictment alleged a sweeping criminal enterprise stretching back decades, sex trafficking, racketeering conspiracy, kidnapping and more. Prosecutors introduced the concept of "freak offs," elaborate multi-day sexual performances Combs allegedly orchestrated, directed and filmed in hotel rooms, primarily involving his then-girlfriends and male escorts.
Caseworkers, crew members and former employees testified to a culture of coercion and violence that prosecutors argued underpinned his entire operation.
A 2016 video from a hotel corridor at the Intercontinental in New York, showing Combs grabbing and shoving his then-girlfriend Cassie Ventura in a hallway, was played for jurors.
On July 2, 2025, the jury returned its verdict after roughly nine hours of deliberation. Combs was convicted on two counts of transportation to engage in prostitution, violations of the Mann Act, but was acquitted on the more serious charges of racketeering conspiracy and sex trafficking. It was a split verdict.
Prosecutors had argued the racketeering and sex trafficking charges for months. The jury found reasonable doubt on those counts. On the Mann Act counts, they did not.
His legal team is continuing to appeal the two convictions, arguing the law was incorrectly applied.
In July, while that appeal moved through the courts, he got into a well-publicized fight with a fellow inmate at Fort Dix after the inmate allegedly insulted him. He was briefly placed in solitary confinement. His release date at the time was moved, not as punishment, which is still being processed separately, but as a routine recalculation of his good behavior and program credits.
The prison fight, the five release date changes, the ongoing appeal and a civil docket that still includes dozens of lawsuits from accusers who pursued their cases separately from the federal prosecution, this is the world Diddy currently inhabits.
